HEAD OF LIGHT ENTERTAINMENT
YEAR 2023/24
Leeds Student Television (LSTV) has been a huge part of the development of my practical skills within my time at the University of Leeds. The year as Head of Light Entertainment has been a whirlwind of challenges, achievements and memories for life.
I have had a variety of positions within LSTV, I have presented in videos, worked cameras such as Panasonic Television style cameras, Canons and Blackmagic 4ks and 6ks. I have also worked in live shows as a floor manager, a runner, VT operator, graphics operator and in one circumstance, directed a small segment of the live show. I’ve also featured in LSTV’s radio show - LSTV.mp3.
My time at LSTV has definitely had its challenges, but I have learnt how to become a confident, honest individual, who enjoys collaborating with others to create a project we are all proud to be a part of.
My proudest video that I made at LSTV is ‘The Aussie Takeover’ which was a collaborative project with two international singular term students from Australia, Izzy and Liz. This was my first project to encourage our new members to create videos, I acted as a producer, guiding the standard procedure to create their own video, helped with some editing elements and set dressed for this shoot. As producer here I ensured that the rounds were different and could challenge both Aussie natives and the non-Aussie members. It was a lot of fun, this is a standout video of the 21 videos across the year I helped with.
Saskia asked Liz and Izzy (our resident Aussies) to takeover a video of all things Aussie. From slang, to phrases, to celebrities, to matching random words, sit back and enjoy mate! 🇦🇺
